TRS-80 Model 1 - RGBtoHDMI HDMI Video Converter Kit
If you have a TRS-80 Model 1, this is the version for you.
This has everything you need, but it is a kit. I do not put the final 6-way IDC to 5-pin DIN connector together because I do not own a Model 1. I put together everything except the cable and test it all before shipping. You just need to wire up the DIN connector to one end of the 6-way ribbon cable. The DIN connector is included.
What You Get:
-
Raspberry Pi Zero v1.3
-
SD Card
-
3D Printed Case
-
New 5V Power Supply
-
Mini-HDMI to HDMI Adapter
-
RGBtoHDMI CPLD Board
-
RGBtoHDMI Analog Board
-
5-Pin DIN Connector (not pictured, but included)
-
6-way IDC Ribbon Cable
I have personally tested each board, and they all work before I ship them.
About the TRS-80 Model 1 Kit:
Although I could make the cable, I prefer not to since I don't own a Model 1 to do the final testing. Therefore, this is a pre-programmed RGBtoHDMI unit with an Analog board that includes everything you need—you just need to put the DIN connector on the end of the cable.
The reason the IBM PC version and other versions sell so well is that they deliver perfect, emulator-like output thanks to the integer scaling. See the RGBtoHDMI wiki page for details on the Model 1.
I have copied the following information from the wiki for your convenience:
"An unmodified TRS-80 will work, but you will have to use the auto-calibrate occasionally because the composite sync signal is generated by resistor-capacitor monostables which drift with temperature.
If you make the following modification, an alternative sync signal which is timed by the crystal can be output on an unused pin of the video connector, and then the auto-calibration should only need to be done once during initial setup: Connect pin 1 (HDRV) of Z6 (74C04) to Pin 3 of the 5-way video DIN socket.
Use the 'TRS_80' profile for an unmodified machine and 'TRS_80_Modified' for one with the modification."
I will include my contact info in the box, so feel free to reach out for support!
